Sivaganga custodial death case transferred to CBI; Stalin assures full cooperation in probe

The investigation into the alleged custodial death of B. Ajith Kumar (27) at Thirupuvanam police station in Sivaganga district was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday (July 1, 2025) within a day after it was transferred to the CB-CID. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who spoke to the victim’s mother over phone earlier in the day, said he was “very sorry” for the unfortunate incident.

Tamil Nadu Minister for Co-operation K.R. Periyakaruppan, along with the district Collector K. Porkodi, visited the house of Ajith Kumar at Madapuram near Thirupuvanam. Mr. Stalin who then spoke to the bereaved family conveyed his condolences.
