Assembly bypoll results LIVE: Counting starts at 8 a.m. in five Assembly constituencies
Punjab’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday (June 23, 2025) retained the Ludhiana West assembly seat with its candidate Sanjeev Arora registering a victory in a fierce electoral fight against his nearest rival and Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu by a margin of 10,637 votes.
In West Bengal, Trinamool Congress candidate Alifa Ahmed won the bypolls to the Kaliganj Assembly seat by a landslide margin of 50,049 votes over her nearest BJP rival Ashish Ghosh. A nine-year-old girl was killed in a bomb explosion in Kaliganj in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Monday (June 23, 2025); CM told police to take action against culprits.
In a fiercely fought bye-election in Kerala, the opposition Congress-led UDF wrested the Nilambur Assembly constituency from the LDF by a margin of 11,077 votes, delivering a severe blow to the ruling dispensation ahead of the state election next year.

In Gujarat AAP leader Gopal Italia won the Visavadar seat, while BJP’s Rajendra Chavda bagged Kadi seat on Monday, as counting for bypolls to the two constituencies in Gujarat concluded, officials said.
Two Assembly bypolls were held in Gujarat, one each in Kerala, West Bengal, and Punjab, on Tuesday (June 19, 2025).
