Mumbai train accident: Five dead after falling off local train due to overcrowding

Four passengers died and nine were injured after falling off two moving local trains in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Monday (June 9, 2025), officials said.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. between the Mumbra and Diwa railway stations, when the bags of commuters on footboard of the two trains, each travelling in the opposite direction, brushed against each other, said Swapnil Nila, Central Railway public relation officer.
