Calicut University to launch sports website

The University of Calicut will launch its official sports website on Wednesday (June 4).

University sources said on Tuesday (June 3) that P. Raveendran, Vice-Chancellor (V-C), would open the website at 11 a.m. at an event at the EMS seminar complex on the university campus at Tenhipalam in Malappuram.

The website has been conceived by the Department of Physical Education. Details about sports activities in the university, various competition events, their winners, training programmes, and other news would be available there. Profiles on sportspersons from the campus, too, would be provided. Department officials claimed that the website had been designed using advanced technology and it would benefit students, sports teachers and those who are interested in sports. They also said that it would serve as a platform to groom fresh talent. Information on ongoing and upcoming events could be provided through the website.

A release quoting Sakkeer Hussain, Head of the Department of Physical Education, said that prominent sportspersons, students, and teachers would attend the inaugural ceremony.
