Committees set up towards South-West monsoon preparedness
The District Administration has set up a 24-hour helpline and control room as part of the disaster management preparedness for the South-West monsoons here in the district.
According to the administration, in view of the South-West monsoons, preemptive measures to handle monsoon-induced disasters including flooding, landslides, and other potential mishaps to livestock and humans caused by thunder and lightning has been factored in in the setting up response action by the administration.
A district-level committee and block-level committee headed by Sub-Collectors, along with an array of committees that include search and relief committee, transport management committee, safety, relief and rehabilitation committee, waterways management committee, public relations committee and public health committee have been constituted.
A 24-hour control room reachable on 1077, 04342-231500; 04342-230067; 04342-231077 has been set up to respond to monsoon-related emergencies, Collector R. Sadheesh has stated.
