Pakistani troops resort to unprovoked firing in 8 forward sectors along LoC in J&K

The Indian Army on Monday said the violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Pakistani Army continued along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K, which saw a significant increase in skirmishes in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

During the intervening night of May 4 and 5, the Army said, Pakistani posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across multiple sectors in J&K.

The firing affected the Indian positions opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor, the Army said.

The Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately, it said.

The growing incidents of cross-LoC skirmishes between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack have spread panic among the residents living closer to the LoC in Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Rajouri and Poonch.
